The People Over Petro Coalition is hiring a Grassroots Communications Strategist

Position description: The Grassroots Communications Strategist works with the Regional Coordinator to develop support for POPCO member's communications needs, including press relationships, social media, graphics, videos, and other digital media.

This position reports to People Over Petro’s Regional Coordinator. It is a full-time remote position. Applicants must reside in the Ohio River Valley to be considered for this position.

Responsibilities include:

  • Coordinate earned media for POPCO and POPCO members, as needed; serve as point-of-contact for media inquiries

    • Develop and maintain relationships with reporters

  • Support Grassroots member communication needs. Develop outreach materials and update them.

    • Have one-on-ones with frontline community members, leaders and volunteers

    • Draft press materials and press strategy for members

    • Arrange and prepare staff and members for critical interviews; serve as a resource for journalists seeking to write about our issues

    • Develop graphics, pictures, and videos

    • Develop tabling materials with support from team and organizational members.

    • Gather pictures and videos and put them into Drive and Flickr

    • Edit content for social media and websites

  • Consult on digital and media strategies related to ongoing issue areas

    • Assist with the development of messaging language related to campaigns and issue areas.

    • Coordinate with appropriate team members

    • Increase POPCO’s social media presence

    • Create interactive content

    • Engage with people on social media

    • Track and analyze activity on social media to optimize interactions and visibility.

    • Support regional narrative development

    • Recommend content for POPCO’s website

  • Other media items assigned to you include but not limited to

    • Draft and publish email content

    • Track and analyze engagement on emails to inform our messaging and frequency.

    • Work with the Communications Working Group to develop newsletters

    • Represent POPCO in allied Communication spaces

    • Provide support to other staff and volunteers as needed

    • Manage messaging documents

    • Review outreach materials for messaging accuracy

    • Evaluate the success of messaging and outreach tactics

CIEL is hiring a Global Plastics & Petrochemicals (Senior) Campaigner

Position description: The Global Plastics & Petrochemicals Campaign Campaigner (or Senior Campaigner) will be responsible for advancing this work together with other CIEL staff members and BFFP’s global coordination team, enabling partners in different regions to lead the implementation of relevant projects and activities, and creating synergies across movements, including with those focused on oil and gas. The position will be based in CIEL’s Fossil Economy program, supervised by the Global Petrochemicals Campaign Manager, and will work closely with colleagues in CIEL’s Fossil Economy, Climate & Energy, and Environmental Health programs to enable an effective and collaborative implementation of the joint strategies.

Key responsibilities include:

  • In conjunction with the CIEL supervisor, relevant CIEL staff, and the BFFP coordination team, facilitate and coordinate the implementation of the agreed BFFP global petrochemical strategy, overseeing relevant work and advocacy across regions to advance measurable progress towards strategic priorities and objectives, ensuring the highest quality work product

  • Coordinate with the CIEL Communications Department (and when relevant, the BFFP Communications Hub) to develop and distribute materials and compelling content that advance campaign goals, including fact sheets, press releases, webinars, videos, and other informational materials. Engage in media and communications activities will be performed in line with the agreed communications protocol jointly developed by CIEL and BFFP for this purpose.

  • Manage the BFFP Petrochemical Coordination project, including tracking its budget and key elements, and preparing reports and follow-up proposals in coordination with CIEL’s development department.

  • Facilitate information flow within the CIEL Fossil Economy program, other CIEL programs, and across BFFP membership.

  • Advise and oversee identified projects essential to advancing the BFFP petrochemical strategy.

  • Lead or seed and support the implementation of key projects to achieve the goals of the BFFP Petrochemicals strategy.

Holden Forests & Gardens is hiring an Arborist

Position description: The Horticulture & Collections department seeks a skilled, professional arborist to join the Horticulture & Collections team. The Arborist will use sound horticultural and arboricultural principles to plant, establish, cultivate & prune trees, ensuring trees & woody plants are grown, cared for, and displayed in ideal conditions.

Key responsibilities: This position will use land management skills to protect and enhance bodies of water, fields and meadows, trails, and other natural areas within the Arboretum. This position will also prune, maintain, and improve the trees and shrubs in the Collection. The Arborist will implement and facilitate progressive and continual improvement of individual specimen trees throughout the Arboretum Core with guidance from the Director of Land & Tree Care. Position Description: The Community Forestry & Conservation department seeks one of two Consulting Foresters to join our team at Holden Forests & Gardens (HF&G). The Consulting Foresters are primarily responsible in assisting in the formation and execution of consulting forestry services. The Consulting Foresters will play a pivotal role in advising landowners in northeast Ohio on managing, conserving, and enhancing their forests.

Key responsibilities: This role involves landowner site visits, writing forest management plans, conducting ecological assessments and surveys, advising on forest health & conservation strategies and enrollment in carbon markets, as well as potentially other services such as timber harvest administration as opportunity aligns with program mission.
