International Council for Local Environmental Initiatives (ICLEI) is hiring Resilience Graduate Interns (multiple positions)

Position description: The Resilience Intern will work closely with the Resilient Development Pathway lead to support climate resilience projects and develop resources for ICLEI USA members. The Resilience Intern will be expected to conduct research, contribute to guidance documents and reports, and support community and local government stakeholder engagement meetings. Success in this position requires a high-energy and personable approach, with a healthy dose of technical acumen to guide and direct local governments through phases of a holistic sustainability framework. New York City-based candidates will have opportunities for in-person work and mentorship.

Responsibilities include:

  • Maintain regular contact with the Resilient Development Pathway Lead and provide updates on tasks and assignments.

  • Contribute to written guidance documents and reports.

  • Support local government members by conducting research on climate resilience, adaptation, and general sustainability topics.

  • Support stakeholder engagement (breakout room facilitation, note-taking, transcription, synthesis, and analysis of inputs shared during meetings)

  • Work with project stakeholders including e.g. city sustainability and community engagement staff and volunteers; excellent communication and client support skills are required.

  • Assist the Resilient Development Pathway Lead with administrative tasks, including creating educational and attractive slide decks, formatting documents, meeting notes, etc.

  • Other possible tasks (dependent on intern’s interest/expertise): compiling local climate projections and conducting research on future conditions; using GIS (access to ArcGIS Pro license will be provided) to conduct spatial analysis and create visually appealing maps.

Location: Remote in the U.S. or in-person in NYC

This internship is open to students currently enrolled in an accredited graduate school program in the United States with an expected graduation date in 2025 or 2026. This is a fully remote position open to all US-based applicants, with preference for New York City-based candidates. The position is slated for November 2024 – February 2025 with the possibility of extension. Interns will be asked to work an average of 20 hours per week.

Climate Cabinet is hiring a Midwest Climate Policy Lead

Position description: The Midwest Climate Policy Lead will provide policy analysis, engage with legislators and peers in the advocacy community, and produce original research and policy products to support ambitious climate policy. This work will focus especially in Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Illinois, but may entail drawing lessons from other regions and/or sharing models developed in these states. The Policy Lead will work in collaboration with our Senior Policy Director, State Leads (where applicable), and Climate Cabinet’s national policy, political, and communications teams.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Work with the Senior Policy Director and State Leads to support policy education and lobbying led by State Leads across the Midwest region.

    • This will include through: rapid response policy analysis & research, educational programming, content creation, and tactical support.

    • This will include some travel for in-person lobbying, relationship building, and programming support.

  • Drive Climate Cabinet legislative priorities in partnership with coalition partners and policymakers in additional states including Wisconsin and Minnesota.

  • Work in coalition with state-based activists, organizations, and funders to advance shared priorities.

  • Track, evaluate, and communicate the impact of Climate Cabinet’s engagement in these states, including through bill tracking and storytelling and internal cross-state sharing.

  • Serve as an internal policy expert and lead on 2-3 critical climate policy areas.

  • Create materials to build and support policy campaigns in the Midwest and potentially other states or nationwide.

  • Act as our primary point of contact with policymakers and coalition partners in certain states and coordinate closely with State Leads on roles and duties in others.

  • Work with Climate Cabinet’s internal policy and data teams to write and publish regular research, memos, and analysis pieces on climate policy trends and opportunities in the Midwest.

  • Translating esoteric or highly technical policy and budget issues and recommendations into plain language summaries for press, policymakers, and internal communications with our team

Climate Cabinet is hiring a Pennsylvania State Lead

Position description: The Pennsylvania State Lead will deepen the effectiveness of Climate Cabinet’s presence in the legislature, and scale up our policy and political work in Pennsylvania. This will include a heavy emphasis on coalition work, legislator relationship development, and collaboration with Climate Cabinet’s national policy and political teams. 

This is a leadership position that will report to the Senior Policy Director and work in close coordination with our national legislative and political teams to ensure cross-state sharing, and alignment with both state and national goals. 

Key responsibilities include:

  • State Lead

    • Deepen Climate Cabinet’s presence in the Pennsylvania legislature by building strong lawmaker relationships, especially in-district with Western Pennsylvania legislators, with climate champions, and through consistent lobbying, policy education, and coalition work.

    • Pass and defend key climate policies.

    • Work in coalition with state-based activists, organizations, and funders to advance shared priorities.

    • Work with Climate Cabinet’s national policy and political teams to shape Pennsylvania strategy, share learnings + expertise across states, and communicate impact.

    • Track, evaluate, and communicate the impact of Climate Cabinet’s engagement in  Pennsylvania, including through bill tracking and storytelling.

  • In addition to the above responsibilities, a State Director-level candidate will:

    • Drive Climate Cabinet’s Pennsylvania legislative and political agenda in collaboration with the national team.

    • Drive Climate Cabinet’s Pennsylvania legislative, political, and media strategies.

    • Bring robust, specific policy/legislative expertise.

    • Be a spokesperson for Climate Cabinet in Pennsylvania media and to funders.

Location: Pittsburgh, PA – or elsewhere in Western Pennsylvania with regular travel to Harrisburg. This role will require some out of state travel.

Environmental Defense Fund is hiring Climate Corps Fellows (multiple positions)

Position description: Climate Corps fellows are graduate students who work with companies, public institutions, and non-profit organizations to meet climate commitments by identifying opportunities to reduce emissions in their operations and supply chains. We are looking for graduate students from diverse backgrounds, with a range of experiences, training, and ambition, who are motivated to join the climate workforce and advance climate projects within organizations.

Electrification Coalition is hiring a Program Associate

Position Description: This position will support the EC’s work to maximize federal investments related to EV infrastructure and vehicle deployment. Café Momentum Pittsburgh is hiring a Director of Development

Position description: Reporting to the Executive Director, the Director of Development will be responsible for all aspects of planning, implementation and evaluation of a comprehensive, strategic fundraising strategy for Café Momentum Pittsburgh. They will collaborate with the Executive Director in the development and execution of major development, program and event initiatives, including:

The Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh is hiring a Manager of Institutional Giving

Position description: The position develops, implements, and oversees a comprehensive institutional giving program that supports Library operations, transformational projects, capital needs, and the endowment. The Manager – Institutional Giving reports to the Director of Development and works collaboratively across the Library system, including with the Development Team, the President’s Office, the Finance Team, and multiple project and program leaders working directly with the public or with program design.

This role is a combination of high-level strategy setting and implementation, as the Manager drives internal idea generation and problem solving, while managing deadlines and writing a range of proposals and reports. This position requires an experienced, high-performing collaborator and communicator that can effectively bridge multiple stakeholder needs and priorities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Designs and implements the Library’s grants and sponsorship programs in order to match the organization’s programmatic and financial goals with the philanthropic intent of prospective and current foundation, government, and corporate donors

  • Familiarizes self with all programs offered by CLP in order to match funders with appropriate projects, campaigns and programs. Proactively communicates funding opportunities to relevant program managers

  • Develops and executes an annual work plan that represents all aspects of the grant and sponsorship cycle, including internal research and information gathering, managing and communicating the deadline calendar to CLP staff, developing case statements for Library initiatives, stewardship and cultivation of grant funders and sponsors, and managing writing assignments for all proposals, reports, and funder communication. This position is the primary writer for institutional grant work, but receives support from members of the Development Team. Delegated writing assignments are made in consultation with relevant supervising Managers

  • Facilitates conversations and project teams that include program and project managers for grant funded and sponsored projects and the Finance Department to ensure alignment across the Library, adherence to all fiduciary requirements, and the development of feasible grant budgets

  • Designs and implements sponsorship benefits for sponsors of programs and events. Ensures that funders receive appropriate recognition and that grant/sponsorship obligations are fulfilled. Proactively develops and communicates these commitments with public service and support departments across CLP
