AmeriCorps is hiring a Hazelwood Outreach & Engagement Fellow

Position description: The Outreach and Engagement Fellow will be tasked with increasing the capacity of the Hazelwood Initiative to advance economic and environmental justice in the Hazelwood neighborhood of Pittsburgh. Their primary responsibilities will include researching, designing, and implementing systems to improve online and in-person communications and outreach. The VISTA fellow will also research and compile a master schedule of regular community events and resources, while growing that network and increasing attendance through systematic advertisement of the events. Other responsibilities will include attending community events and other meetings organized by HI in addition to providing support for the events by fundraising, recruiting volunteers, and documenting resident feedback.

Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh is hiring a Research Assistant (Anthropocene, temporary)

Position description: The Anthropocene section and Learning and Community department seek a Research Assistant to carry out research to create a database of organizations, projects, policies, plans, or other initiatives across Western PA related to climate resilience, natural resource management, conservation, and environmental stewardship. The database will assist Carnegie Museum of Natural History strategic planning for future research and public engagement and community partnership initiatives. The successful candidate has a working knowledge of climate change, resilience, and environmental sustainability issues is required; collection and documentation of information about regional environmental initiatives, including direct outreach to organizations is required; must be able to generate, record, organize, and present data in an efficient and clear manner.
This temporary position will be approximately 10-15 hours per week, for 4-6 months.

Venture Outdoors is hiring an Afterschool Outdoor Educator

Position Description: This position is for the 2023-2024 afterschool care program at the Environmental Charter School (ECS) Intermediate building in Regent Square for 3rd-5th grade students. This is an afterschool childcare program with an emphasis on outdoor and environmental enrichment.

An Outdoor Educator is a part-time employee who will lead or assist on outdoor trips and environmental lessons primarily with youth. The Outdoor Educator will also help with events for Venture Outdoors, ensuring a successful, professional and excellent experience for all participants. This staff member acts as a representative of Venture Outdoors to promote the mission of the organization. An Outdoor Educator leads lessons in schools and on outings in activities such as hiking, flat water paddling, biking, geocaching, and more. The Outdoor Educator may also lead virtual lessons and workshops with youth.
