RiverWise is hiring an Environmental Justice Coordinator

Position description: The Environmental Justice Coordinator will work closely with the Environmental Justice Project Manager and Grants Manager. Though a direct employee of RiverWise, the Environmental Justice Coordinator will split their time roughly 50/50 between projects throughout RiverWise and New Sun Rising’s networks, and will report jointly to the Executive Directors of both organizations. 

The coordinator position primarily entails engaging, educating, and organizing community stakeholders while also preparing their projects for successful funding and implementation. Key responsibilities include; community collaboration, project development and implementation, funding access, and environmental justice advocacy.

This is a full time position with some weekend and evening availability required. The ideal candidate has a curious and adaptive mindset, relentlessly driven to understand the multifaceted nature of environmental justice, equity, and human flourishing.

Thriftique is hiring an Assistant Manager

Position description: Thiftique’s Assistant Manager will support their mission-focused social enterprise resale shop selling carefully curated, designer-centric inventory. This role directly assists the Store Operations Manager and the Director of Retail Operations in supporting the retail operations of Thriftique.

Responsibilities include; manage sales floor and drive sales by addressing guest concerns and mitigating product loss in the absence of store management, open and close the store following proper procedures documented in the opening and closing checklist, confirm that deposit slips, spreadsheets, envelopes, and deposit bags are correctly filled out and discrepancies are reconciled and cleared by accounting, and execute lead cashier responsibilities such as returns, exchanges and acceptance of vouchers.

This role has physical requirements such as; standing for a minimum of 4-6 hours, lifting and/or move up to 50 lbs. safely, and stoop, bend, kneel and crouch on a frequent basis.

City of Lakewood, Ohio is hiring a Climate Action and Sustainability Coordinator

Position description: Under the general direction of the Planning and Development Director, the Climate Action and Sustainability Coordinator is responsible for the development, organization, implementation, and monitoring of a City-wide climate action and sustainability program in Lakewood, Ohio. This program is to encompass all aspects of the City’s operations including internal and external programs related to the efficient use of resources (e.g., energy, water, and land), green building, waste reduction, pollution prevention, air quality, and greenhouse gas emission reductions.

Key responsibilities of the position include; Act as the primary point of contact to the public, City staff, and external stakeholders regarding climate resiliency and sustainability projects and information, advise the Mayor on climate resiliency and sustainability issues, serve as the City’s representative on boards and committees regarding climate resiliency and sustainability issues or concepts, and engage with environmental justice and other external stakeholders to shape a climate agenda that is deeply participatory and centered in the community.

This position requires flexibility of scheduling and will require meeting and operations attendance during evening and weekend hours. The selected candidate must be able to pass a civil service examination.

BikePGH is hiring a Bicycling Outreach Associate

Position description: BikePGH is seeking friendly faces to talk with the public about biking and walking in Pittsburgh, to provide local bicycling resources and education, to share information about POGOH & BikePGH events and programming, and encourage membership sign-ups and renewals for both POGOH and BikePGH.

Responsibilities of the Bicycling Outreach Associate include; Represent both POGOH & BikePGH as the “Pittsburgh Bike People” at outreach and engagement events, staffing of outreach events, including setup, tabling, bike valet operations, membership sales, merchandise sales, and email signups, and communicate the benefits of biking in relation to the community, personal health, environmental impacts, and the first/last mile of transit.

This is a part time position, with some mandatory events throughout the year. Physical demand include sitting, reaching, bending, lifting up to 50 lbs, pushing/pulling, walking. Reliable transportation to events is also a must.

Green Building Alliance is hiring a Workforce Development Director

Position description: Green Building Alliance’s Workforce Development Director will spearhead the organization’s initiatives related to professional education and training for a variety of audiences. This staff member will strengthen the region’s sustainability jobs pipeline, expand education and training to diverse learners, build relationships with workforce development partners, and support the organization’s mission to positively transform the built environment.

Position description: The Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy is seeking a part-time, as-needed Event Assistants during the April-November event season. The seasonal Event Assistant will assist the Event Sales Coordinator in managing on-site events, ensuring day-of responsibilities are handled in a clear and confident manner.

Key responsibilities include; assist and ensure that the event spaces are prepared and clean before each event. This may include moving tables and chairs, sweeping, and mopping as needed, ensure proper care, movement, and storage of all equipment such as tables, chairs, AV equipment, etc., and provide excellent customer service and greet guests in a friendly, attentive manner.

This is a part-time, seasonal position. Ideal candidates have flexible availability, evenings, weekends, or daytime shifts as assigned, and be able and willing to travel between PPC venues as assigned. This role requires the physical ability to walk, stand, stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, pull, push, feel, grasp, lift, talk, see, hear and perform repetitive motions.

Solar United Neighbors is hiring a Policy and Advocacy Fellow

Position description: The Policy and Advocacy Fellow will support SUN's solar advocacy and education work. The applicant will either be selected to support the Rural Electric Cooperative Solar Campaign or their state priority campaigns.

The responsibilities for the Rural Electric Cooperative Solar Campaign include; Engaging and connecting with rural electric co-op (REC) member-owners in target states/areas, assisting local campaigns for better solar policies at RECs, and helping recruitment and engagement in an online solar discussion forum. The responsibilities for the state priority campaigns include; Supporting state legislative and regulatory efforts to promote and defend greater access to local solar and other distributed energy resources, engaging solar supporters to participate in advocacy activities, and researching various state and local solar policies.

This is a 15 to 20 hour (flexible) per week fellowship intended for a minimum of 9 and up to 12 months. Fellows may obtain college credit for this program or may opt for a living wage equivalent stipend.
