Position description: Winchester Thurston School is a nationally recognized and innovative Junior Pre-Kindergarten through grade 12 independent day school in Pittsburgh. The Director of Advancement serves as a key leader in the Advancement Department and oversees a moves management system of philanthropy.

Responsibilities of the position include: develop and oversee a comprehensive moves management process for donors that works to identify potential donors and steward them through their personal philanthropy with the ultimate goal of securing a major gift; develop targeted cultivation plans and solicitation strategies; and prepare comprehensive briefing documents in collaboration with the Philanthropy Coordinator.

Northeast Ohio Areawide Coordinating Agency is hiring a Communications & Markets Coordinator

Position description: The Northeast Ohio Areawide Coordinating Agency (NOACA) is the transportation and environmental planning agency that represents state, county, city, village, and township officials in Greater Cleveland. NOACA addresses the transportation, air quality, and water quality needs of Cuyahoga, Geauga, Lake, Lorain and Medina counties. The Communications & Markets Coordinator position works to implement brand management, marketing, communications, public relations, advertising and promotional strategy for the organization.

Main responsibilities include: Develop and maintain research/dashboard of outreach community engagement drivers; Lead projects and coordinates and executes communication, marketing, and outreach calendar for message deployment; and Execute production tasks such as vendor quoting and production timelines for print, radio, and billboard advertisement.

City Theater Company is hiring a Development & Events Manager

Position description: City Theatre Company is Pittsburgh’s leading professional theater dedicated to new plays. The Development & Events Manager is part of an expanding fundraising team and will work closely with leadership to strategically manage and increase support to the organization’s annual fund.

Essential responsibilities of the position include: Imagining, implementing, and managing events for donors and funders throughout the season, including major annual fundraisers and opening nights; Soliciting organizational sponsorships from corporations and maintaining relationships with corporate representatives; and Coordinating the timely submission of government and foundation grants and reports with the organization’s outside grant-writing firm.

This position does require occasional physical demands typical of events. Occasional evening and weekend hours are to be expected. A successful candidate will be local to the Pittsburgh region, and is required to work on-site in Pittsburgh.

U.S. Energy Foundation is hiring a Program Associate, Building Decarbonization

Position description: U.S. Energy Foundation’s (EF) mission is to secure a clean and equitable energy future to tackle the climate crisis. They believe a thriving clean energy economy can create sustainable opportunities, spur innovation, and protect our climate—for today and future generations. The Program Associate role will support their Building Decarbonization team to make and administer grants, and work with advocates and other partners to execute strategies and projects.

Key responsibilities of the position include: Track and execute all steps in the grantmaking process; Process grants/contracts through EF’s internal systems in a timely and responsive manner; and Prepare agendas, schedule meetings, and conduct relevant research to ensure effective conversations.

Black Appalachian Coalition is hiring a Federal Grant Navigator

Position description: The Black Appalachian Coalition is committed to weaving the rich tapestry of Black Appalachian narratives into a powerful force for change, advocating for environmental and economic justice and equity. The goal of the Black Appalachian Coalition is to build a multi-state campaign that amplifies black voices, dismantles the colonized narrative of Appalachia, and drives story-based strategies and solutions that center the voices and lived experience of Black Appalachians. The Black Appalachian Coalition seeks a full-time Federal Grants Navigator to identify and access public grant funding opportunities to strengthen the capacity of underserved communities in the Appalachian region to address the environmental, energy, infrastructure, and public health challenges they face.

Main responsibilities include: Working with BLAC staff and key partners to identify and prioritize communities across the Appalachian region for outreach and technical support for applying for federal funds; Developing and distributing communication materials for outreach purposes; and Finding, writing and helping manage federal grant applications for BLAC.

This is a remote position that may be located anywhere in the Appalachian region – preferably WV, OH, KY or PA. Some travel is required, and the role is a two-year grant funded position.

Youth Opportunities Unlimited is hiring a Seasonal Program Assistant

Position description: Y.O.U. helps teens and young adults, ages 14-24 living in economically distressed communities succeed by providing educational and workforce opportunities, skills development, and access to career pathways. They offer school-based and community-based programs designed to meet the needs of Northeast Ohio employers, with a focus on those industry sectors that provide the most opportunities for career success. The Program Assistant works with the Administrative Team Leader to support the full implementation of the Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP).

Responsibilities include: Assist Administrative Team Lead with program operational duties to ensure smooth implementation and execution of program goals; Provide timely reports to program management and partners as directed and required; and Meet with participants and their families in the community as necessary to gather required documentation.

The position requires reliable transportation to various work sites, and is an in-person role. The schedule for the position runs from April-August 2024.

U.S. Green Building Council is hiring a Local Government Leadership Intern

Position description: The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) is nonprofit organization dedicated to sustainable, high-performing buildings and communities that improve the quality of life for everyone. They are best known for LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design), the most widely used green building rating system in the world. USGBC is seeking a Local Government Leadership Intern to support case studies, project directory profiles, data collection, and market research efforts.

Responsibilities of the internship include: Research, identify and assemble market feedback and data on energy, water, waste, transportation, education, equity, prosperity and public health and safety from cities, towns and counties and publicly available sources; Develop a database of local government leaders who attend our forums who may be interested in LEED; and Evaluate policy opportunities based on the review of certification data.

Students taking on Oil and Petrochemicals is hiring a Fellow

Position description: The Ohio River valley is facing the build out of the Petrochemical Industry, an industry that turns fossil fuels into plastic. This full school year fellowship is for college students in the Appalachian Region & Ohio River Valley; priority consideration given to students that come from frontline communities, marginalized identities, and students that attend schools near frontline communities.

The goals of the fellowship include: Support young people in Appalachia & the Ohio River Valley to organize for a better future, and find their place in it; Connect and align students & university resources to the movement against petrochemicals and plastic; and Resource students to organize on & off campus to disrupt the petrochemical & plastic industry.

Fellows must be attending a continued-education institution in PA, OH, KY, TN or WV. Apply by May 1st for priority consideration!
