You now can find that full report live on our website. This is just the beginning of our ongoing research into the opportunities and challenges for green job growth in the region.

Environmental Health Project is hiring a Project Coordinator, Appalachia

EHP works in conjunction with frontline communities to monitor air pollutants, such as particulate matter (PM) and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) near industry sites (e.g., well pads, compressor stations, petrochemical facilities, and landfills), and to convey existing or potential health risks associated with sites of concern. The role of the Project Coordinator, Appalachia is to ensure accurate analysis of this data and to translate the findings into easily understandable reports for consumption by a range of audiences, from community residents to legislators. In addition, the Project Coordinator, Appalachia is responsible for communications and information flow between the EHP team and communities and partners in the region.

Location: hybrid / in-person Pittsburgh-area

Experience: Bachelor’s degree, 3-years experience working with frontline communities

The Coalition Coordinator will be responsible for facilitating the implementation of POPCO’s strategic framework, supporting participation in Coalition spaces, and guiding leaders within the Coalition to achieve consensus-grounded goals.

Salary/Pay: $65,000 - $75,000, based on experience

Compensation for 3-hour tour: min. $75, max. $170, plus tips

Mon Valley Initiative is hiring an Employment & Financial Coach

This position will work with participants enrolled in the Workforce and Financial Coaching Program, assisting with finding and retaining employment, providing fundamental financial education services, making referrals for basic needs, and helping with other income supports.

Location: Homestead or Charleroi, PA

Experience: College degree and/or significant experience in the field of human services, social work or workforce development. 

Salary/Pay: 50-55k

Center for International Environmental Law is hiring a Communications Campaign Specialist

The communications specialist (digital campaigner) will use strategic communications tools and strategies to drive CIEL’s campaigns to stop petrochemical expansion in the United States. The specialist will use rapid response communications to accelerate proactive advocacy campaigns and support regional coalition strategies at the epicenter of planned petrochemical expansion.

Location: Flexible within the United States (preference for Washington DC, Ohio River Valley/Appalachia, or Gulf Coast)

Experience: At least 5 years of professional experience in journalism, public relations, digital media, or communications, with at least 2 of those in developing and delivering high-impact digital campaigns.

Salary/Pay: $65,000-80,000 depending on qualifications
